International Economic and Trade

Established in 1999, International Economics and Trade is one of the departments with the longest history at IBS. The undergraduate degree program of International Economics and Trade is a four-year program, with the first two years focusing on teaching the fundamentals of economics and improving students’ English skills, while the final two years emphasize in-depth courses (both theoretical and practical) in the fields of international economics and international trade. In 2021, the major of International Economics and Trade of IBS was approved as one of the National First-Class Undergraduate Programs in China.

Students majoring in International Economics and Trade can choose to pursue a minor in another specialty starting in their second year.

In order to fulfill the degree requirements and graduate, students must complete a total of 142 credits (2388 teaching hours), along with 12 credits of practical courses, over a period of four years.

1. General Compulsory Courses: Fundamental Principles of Marxism, Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Outline of Modern and Contemporary History of China, Ethics and Morality Cultivation & Fundamentals of Law, Current Affairs and Policies, The Xi’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, College English, Physical Education, Military Theories, Labor Education, National Security Education, History of the Communist Party of China (Elective), History of Socialist Development (Elective).

4. Major Elective Courses (choose from 48 courses listed below): Contemporary Economics and Management: Theory and Practice, Introduction and Application of Programming Language (Python), Artificial Intelligence and Business, Research Methodology, Public Finance, Economic Law, Business Negotiation, Internet Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Professional Development and Workplace Analysis, Business Ethics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, etc.
