Introduction

BFSU was accredited to confer the Master’s Degree in International Business (MIB) in 2014 and began to enroll students in 2015. Since the program’s inception, we have conducted comprehensive disciplinary building, focusing on cultivation features, faculty, program quality, program management, enrollment quality, and program outcome evaluation. By emphasizing “multi-lingual, multi-regional, and cross-cultural” characteristics, the MIB project has been taught in English-speaking, multi-cultural classrooms, China-foreign joint cultivation, and all-round practical teaching, distinguishing it as a high-quality program with exceptional features at BFSU.

The Foshan Campus International Business Master Program is created by fusing the global resources of BFSU with the industrial resources of the Greater Bay Area. Utilizing the distinctive specialties of BFSU, it collaborates with the School of International Relations to establish a unique business diplomacy direction. The school has assembled a strong team of educators, including academic mentors, practical tutors, and part-time lecturers, to ensure the quality of instruction and the improvement of each graduate's professional ability and comprehensive quality. It also places a premium on graduates’ employment earnings and employment rates.

Goals

The objective of the MIB program is to develop multi-lingual, cross-disciplinary business professionals who have exceptional language proficiency and communication skills. The program introduces students to the wider scope of finance thanks to our school’s well-connected alumni and global network. Students are trained to better understand how to navigate the business world and cultural differences, master a second language, communicate across cultural barriers, adapt to international business norms, and participate in multinational operations, trade, and investment management in challenging global business environments. They are capable of handling cultural differences, investment risks, and economic tensions in international business with composure. They are highly demanded professionals who can negotiate trade and investment agreements, resolve conflicts, manage corporate transnational public relations, and coordinate intergovernmental economic activities.

The above objective promotes the interdisciplinary talent cultivation model while also giving full expression to our institution’s academic advantages. The Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and other businesses also accept it as a valid proof of qualifications for employment. Our school has developed a set of talent cultivation standards to make sure this goal is achieved and include cross-cultural communication skills and teamwork as the evaluation criteria of learning outcomes, requiring students to have a certain level of foreign language proficiency before applying for a degree, requiring students to complete internships or actual projects to earn four credits before graduation, and other requirements.

Features

Our institution has built two distinct tracks, International Business and Business Diplomacy, which work together to utilize the MIB program's platform and pool the expertise of faculty from other departments to meet educational requirements. The following six features set this program apart from others.

First, the mix of an international faculty team, full English-teaching courses and small class sizes ensures students' ability to use English as a working language and to communicate without barriers.

Second, we take pride in our student body, which represents a diverse range of backgrounds. Students from all over the world attend classes and work together on group projects, creating an intensive cross-cultural learning environment. It enables our students to gain a thorough understanding of cultural differences, improve cultural sensitivity and tolerance, and make the connections required for transnational operations.

Third, we’ve built an international joint education mechanism to connect students with educational possibilities in joint education, exchange learning, and practical training at universities and colleges abroad. The Rennes Business School, the French European Business School (ESCP), and many other prestigious universities are among our collaborators. Our students share lectures with successful entrepreneurs from around the world, which gives them exposure to and insight into a variety of approaches to the business world.

Fourth, differing from a master’s degree in academia, this program emphasizes practice. IBS follows the philosophy of ESCP Business School in that experiential teaching techniques such as group projects, case discussions, and analysis reports are frequently used in each subject to increase curriculum applicability. For instance, in the International Business Negotiation subject, Chinese and foreign students create a team to practice their negotiating and communication abilities in actual business settings. In the International Market Research subject, groups of students visit businesses to offer consultancy services and complete research or consulting reports.

Fifth, provide specialized elective courses including French, Spanish, regional investment environment, economic diplomacy, etc. Provide students with the chance to study a second language to assist our students to achieve an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of investment and business environments in the European Union, Latin America, Africa, the Arab area and many other parts of the world.

Sixth, set up summer school sessions with the goal of enhancing students’ language and communication skills as well as their proficiency in using English as a working language.
