On April 27, 2025, FESCO EDU, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) International Business School, Beijing Huimin Children’s Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing Yanhuang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine under Huimin Foundation co-hosted a pioneering seminar titled “Exploration of Internationalized Overseas Marketing of Traditional Chinese Medicine.” The event united 11 students, Professor Dou Bin (student advisor), and TCM professionals to explore strategies for promoting TCM’s global reach while honouring its cultural heritage.
The seminar began with a visit to Beijing Yanhuang Hospital of TCM, where students immersed themselves in the institution’s blend of ancient practices and modern healthcare. Students received custom TCM-themed shirts and toured the facility. They explored the hospital’s herbal pharmacy, observing the meticulous preparation of medicinal formulas and gaining insights into the role of natural ingredients in TCM therapies. Staff members demonstrated traditional diagnostic techniques, such as pulse analysis and tongue examination, highlighting the scientific rigor behind centuries-old practices. Following the tour, the group took a leisurely walk through Beijing’s historic hutongs, connecting Yanhuang Hospital to Huimin Children’s Hospital.
The post-lunch session began with a hands-on workshop on Eight-Section Brocade, a traditional TCM health exercise and crafting herbal sachets. Led by experts, students practiced the fluid movements and breathing techniques central to this ancient practice, embodying TCM’s emphasis on preventive care and holistic wellness. The physical activity transitioned seamlessly into intellectual. Hospital directors, BFSU faculty, and students tackled pressing challenges, including cultural adaptation of TCM terminology, strategies to build trust in sceptical markets, and the role of digital platforms in cross-cultural storytelling.
Through this immersive visit and research, students gained a nuanced, firsthand perspective on the operations of a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital. They explored the integration of ancient healing practices with modern healthcare systems, witnessed the digital advancements revolutionizing TCM diagnostics and patient care, and recognized the critical need for multidisciplinary professionals who bridge cultural heritage and contemporary medical expertise. We extend heartfelt gratitude to FESCO EDU, Beijing Huimin Children’s Hospital of TCM and Beijing Yanhuang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine under Huimin Foundation for their generous hospitality and enlightening discussions, which brought TCM’s transformative potential to life. We look forward to future collaborations and expanding this inspiring series of initiatives!
