PhD Program

1. Overview 

The IBS was accredited to grant doctorate degrees in MS&E in 2018, which began to enroll students in 2019.

2. Features

The supervisor group is composed of three to five professors (or experts with professional and technical titles and academic level) in this major or related major. Upon nomination by the supervisors, review by the Academic Degree Sub-Committee, and approval by the Academic Degree Committee of the University, associate professors with a doctoral degree or higher can be selected to assist the supervisor group.

We encourage PhD candidates to actively participate in relevant projects with guidance from domestic and foreign tutors, to take part in national and international academic activities, foreign research fellowship programs, and research projects hosted by supervising faculty to expand their international academic horizons, and to improve research and innovation capabilities.

3. Degree Program Structure and Design

The program duration is 4 years, with a maximum of 6 years. The course arrangement is as follow:

Semester 1 to 3

Take courses to acquire theoretical knowledge and academic competence.

Semester 4

Take a mid-term examination, submit thesis proposal.

Semester 7

Conduct pre-defense, receive anonymous expert review.

Semester 8 

Finish the thesis defense before graduation. 

4. Study Mode

The study mode of PhD program at BFSU is full-time. PhD candidates with a job before admission can retain their working relationship with their workplace, but they must ensure full-time study during the program period. Part-time candidates are not accepted.
