Specialized Master’s Degree Program (Practice-Oriented)

Program Overview

The International Business School offers four majors in its specialized master’s degrees (Practice-Oriented) in Finance, International Business, Professional Accounting, and Business Administration. The Master of Finance and Master of International Business programs commenced in 2015, the Master of Professional Accounting degree in 2019, and the MBA in 2020.

Program Goals

Through flexible and diversified curricular settings, the practice-oriented specialized master’s degree programs aim at developing high-caliber talent with exceptional foreign language fluency, cross-cultural communication skills, and potent problem-solving aptitudes. Real-world experience and theoretical content are integrated in our programs. Students are encouraged to improve practical and innovative skills while gaining fundamental theoretical knowledge.

The school has built a comprehensive and rigorous system to meet educational goals in terms of faculty size, curriculum, internships, thesis writing, and job assistance, among others, to ensure our graduates’ in-depth professional knowledge and high level of employability.

Our exceptional faculty members have extensive academic and professional experience. To better help our students navigate their careers, the school has put together a

varied team of adjunct professors and consultants (including Nobel laureates in economics), central government finance officials, and top corporate leaders.　　

Each semester, professors from renowned overseas universities offer professional courses utilizing Beijing Foreign Studies University’s established advantages and global platform. Some of these courses are shared by both Chinese and international students. At the same time, a summer school is held particularly for freshmen to help them work more effectively in an English-speaking environment.

The school has created a combined educational system with over a dozen leading overseas universities, offering students opportunities for joint education and overseas exchange, as well as broadening their global perspectives and exposing them to dynamic cultural backgrounds.

To foster students’ creativity and practical competence, the school has designeds a social practice system for students. This system combines experimental teaching with field case, making full use of the school’s rich outward-looking internship and training base to develop students' application and innovation skills.

The graduate employment rate is 100%, with 70% of alumni working in large state-owned, foreign-funded, or joint venture enterprises and government departments such as the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The vast majority are working in first-tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai and receive highly positive feedback from employers.
