On the 20th of December, four volunteers from the graduate Youth Branch of the International Business School visited the "Nuannuan Children's Home" in Baimiao Village, Changping District for the final volunteer activity of the semester, accompanying and spending a pleasant and fruitful afternoon with the children there.
Activities included building dominoes, reading picture books and painting. Individually, the children were very creative and used the dominoes to make various presentations. In team cooperation activities, team members were often frustrated by their proximity to one another and the frequent accidental brushing of the dominoes off their intended positions. Volunteers actively step in to maintain the order of the game by guiding the children to control their emotions, and improve their coordination and cooperation. Eventually, the children successfully completed the assigned group and collective tasks whilst the volunteers recorded and assessed the children’s behaviour.
Next, the children completed the reading of the animal picture books together with and under the guidance of the volunteers. Through vivid illustrations, the children were immersed and felt they were a part of the animal world and aligned with nature. In the quick answer sessions, the children actively engaged and participated, and eagerly identified various animals. In the painting sessions, the children applied blue sky and grass as background, and used crayons to paint the colourful world seen through their eyes and minds.
At the end of the event, Mr Wang Yunhe of the “Nuannuan Children’s Home” fully affirmed the dedication of the volunteers in their services and noted their progress throughout the semester, and thanked IBS for their support of the “Nuannuan Children’s Home”. Volunteer certificates were issued to 8 students for their outstanding volunteer work. “Nuannuan Children’s Home” shall maintain close cooperation with BFSU and urge more BFSU students to take interest and devote themselves to the volunteer work of “Nuannuan Childen’s Home” next semester, accompany the children to grow up in a healthy environment, and contribute to society through charitable activities.
