From the 20th of February to the 29th, Prof. NIU [E1][2][E3]Huayong, Dean of the International Business School (IBS), conducted an in-depth reading event [E4][5][E6]of on the book “Future Violence and National Governance” with more than 100 students from IBS. Students were assigned the tasks of reading one chapter from the book each day and to share their thoughts and reflections from their readings with their teachers and peers.
At the commencement of the 10-day reading event, Prof. NIU Huayong briefly introduced the book “Future Violence and National Governance” to the students in the reading group, calling on students to make good use of this ‘rare reading time’ opportunity during the pandemic[E7][8][E9]. During the 10-day event, students were required to check in/sign in(?) [E10]each day, and submit quality reflections from their readings of the day, demonstrating dialectical thinking and rational judgment on the contents of the book.
During the 10-day reading event, students of IBS have found a way to make the most of their spare time to. It is hoped that through this event, students will develop and maintain the good habit of reading, and to read more thought-provoking books. In the meantime, we also hope that the haze and uncertainties brought about by COVID-19 will dissipate soon so that we can meet again [E11][12][E13]at BFSU.
Would Prof NIU be more accurate than Mr Niu ?
Yes, Prof is better than Mr.
[E3R1]Agreed and amended
Not sure if you would prefer calling it activity or event?
I suppose either way works
[E6R4]Using “event”
Pandemic, not epidemic ?
I suppose both words are fine, but “pandemic” seems to be used more....
[E9R7]I suggest using “pandemic” as “pandemic” usually means worldwide whilst “epidemic” seems to suggest more localised
[E10]Forgot to ask this when I sent this the first time. I would think “sign in” is better here?
Not sure what is meant here by the word “reunite”
Yes, “meet again” is a better expression.
[E13R11]Agreed and amended
