On the afternoon of 16th April, 2022, the Resume Revision activity of the 9th International Business School Employability Competition was successfully held at Room 353, 357, 361, and 365 of the International Building, West Campus.
Four corporate mentors, Wan Jingjing, Xie Jing, Xun Jie, and Li Shuowen, respectively revised resumes one by one for the students who signed up for the event. Tan Jialin, Secretary of the Youth League general Branch &Student Union of graduate students, attended the event. About 270 students from the IBS signed up and participated in the event.
At 2:00 p.m., the resume revision activity officially started. The students entered the classroom one by one. Each teacher was given 5 minutes for revision guidance on each student’s resume, and provided further career development suggestions based on the students’ current job-hunting intentions. From the process of revising their resumes, common problems of the students were found: previous experience does not match the direction of the job search, the focus is not prominent enough, and the layout is not designed well enough.
In response to the above-mentioned problems, the four mentors suggested that the students should explore the connection between their experiences and job-hunting directions from other perspectives, emphasize the results of each experience, avoid using too fancy layouts, and increase delivery attempts to continuously find and solve problems. In terms of students' career development, the four teachers gave the following suggestions based on the current overall employment environment and the expectations of employers: the students should focus on cultivating differentiated abilities while improving their comprehensive quality, giving full play to the advantages of English and accumulating experience for their current goals in a targeted manner.
We hope that the students will gain something valuable from this activity, and the follow-up series of activities of this employability competition will continue to be carried out. Please stay tuned!
