China Japan Korea Forum was founded in 2002, with its initial name “Northeast Asia Management and Economics Joint Conference”. The forum is co-sponsored by the Commerce Economy Association of China and the Korea Society of Economics and Business. It is hosted by the universities in China and South Korea on a rotational basis. The forum advocates exchanges between scholars from China, Japan, and South Korea on the topics of economic management in the three countries, and puts forward policy suggestions for economic and commercial cooperation between the three countries.

In 2018, the forum was officially  renamed as “China Japan Korea Forum”, where the International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University has become the main organizer since then.. The purpose of the forum is to carry out in-depth research on stability and cooperation in Northeast Asia, undertake academic research and discussions in the fields of politics, economy, history, and culture, and jointly explores the development path of economic, commercial, and cultural integration of China, Japan, and South Korea. In 2020, the forum received attention of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat.  The participants of the forum also extended from China, Japan, and South Korea to Russia, Mongolia, Vietnam, and other Asian countries.

In recent years, the China Japan Korea Forum has increasingly focused on the fields of trilateral economic integration and value chain cooperation. In the future, the Forum  will explore new research methods, including big data, focusing on political, economic, and cultural cooperation among China, Japan, and South Korea, and make due contribution to regional stability and development.
