On 26th November 2022, the International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University successfully held the IBS Strategic Advisory Board 2nd Meeting.
Affected by the pandemic, the meeting was conducted in an online format. Participants of the meeting include: Zhihong YI, Former Vice President of Renmin University of China; Zhongming WANG, Director of Global Entrepreneurship Research Center, Zhejiang University; Yonggui WANG, Vice President of Capital University of Economics and Business; Michael T S Lee, Former Vice President of Fu Jen Catholic University; Baowen SUN, Dean of China Center for Internet Economy Research, Central University of Finance and Economics; Guowei HUA, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management, Beijing Jiaotong University; Matthieu Dumont, Director of Suzhou Campus, SKEMA Business School; Joshua Park, Dean of SolBridge International School of Business, Woosong University; Dongshuo LI, Founder, Chairman, and President of UMU; Scott QIAN, Partner of Tax Services, PwC; Zolo YE, Chief Operating Officer of Caixin Insight; Zhen SUN, General Manager of Beijing Branch, China Minsheng Bank; Xixi XU, Compliance Manager of Industrial and Commercial Bank. Participants from IBS include: Chunli LI, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of IBS; Huayong NIU, Dean of IBS; Zening SONG, Vice Dean of IBS; Mingxing SHAO, Vice Dean of IBS; all members of IBS School Committee, all department directors, all accreditation teaching program leaders and all members of the International Accreditation Office.
The meeting was hosted by Zening SONG, Vice Dean of IBS. At the beginning of the meeting, Song introduced the guests and expressed warm welcome to all the participants.
In the first stage of the meeting, Chunli LI, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of IBS, delivered a welcome speech to the meeting. Li briefly reviewed the contents of the first meeting and the valuable suggestions provided by the experts and alumni on the future strategic planning, discipline construction, social services, talent training and international cooperation of the School. She also expressed that the leaders of IBS attached great importance to the the meeting, and conducted in-depth study and made improvements according to the suggestions made by the committee members. Finally, Li wished the meeting a complete success.
In the second phase of the meeting, Dean NIU reported on the development and strategic improvement of IBS since the first Strategic Advisory Board Meeting held in April 22. The report focused on five aspects: the strategic mission and development goals, talent cultivation, discipline construction, faculty research and future challenges of IBS.
The third stage of the meeting was a roundtable discussion, in which the committee members spoke on the topics of ‘What IBS should do to better integrate ESG philosophy into its development?’, ‘What IBS should do to better serve local development?’, ‘How to improve societal impact of IBS?’ and ‘How to take teaching and research to a new height under digital transformation?’. The members expressed their views and provided many valuable and forward-looking opinions and suggestions.
Afterwards, Dean NIU expressed his sincere gratitude to the committee members for the issues pointed out regarding the strategic development of IBS as well as the valuable opinions and suggestions raised. He emphasized that IBS will grasp the development direction scientifically, keep on its existing features and advantages, continuously explore new potentials for future development, further enhance talent cultivation, and move towards the strategic goal of building a first-class business school.
At this point, the IBS Strategic Advisory Board 2nd Meeting was successfully concluded.
