The Silk Road Research Institute

In January 1st, 2015, The Silk Road Research Institute of BFSU was officially established. Headmaster Peng Long was appointed director of the Silk Road Research Institute , Zhang Xingang was appointed as honorary director and Wu Hao as executive director.

IBS aims to serve our national strategy of “the Belt and Road”, and make full use of BFSU’s advantages in multilingual and cross-cultural education. We will also play the part of an industry-academia-research platform as well as a bridge for going global. The Silk Road Research Institute will set ambitious goals and make detailed efforts to become new growth poles for our school’s comprehensive reform.


The Silk Road Research Institute will make full use of its advantages in multilingual and cross-cultural education, conduct research on the Silk Road and the Belt and Road with our own style and characteristics, and strive to an essential think tank for the B&R strategy. We will bring into full play our role as an industry-academia-research platform as well as a bridge for going global platform. We will focus on our primary goals of “telling our stories about China”,“disseminating China’s voice”and “going global for Chinese culture”. We will actively promote collaborative innovation and cross-field integration, facilitate China’s going global to B&R countries, help B&R countries study China’s paths of reform and development, and carry out multi-tier training and consultation programs in all dimensions. The Silk Road Research Institute will set up a platform for promoting cultural exchanges between China and B&R countries, and make contributions to implementing the Belt and Road strategy.
